Twin Rivers Inc., which manufactures products and furnishings for health care facilities has relied on the Owensboro SBDC and its director, Mickey Johnson, for over 15 years. In the early 1990s, Haire was offered incentives to relocate his business outside of Kentucky. The SBDC was the driving force in keeping the operations in Kentucky. Mickey Johnson worked with elected officials and economic development agencies to find a facility that could support the manufacturer and keep the business in Kentucky. Since then, Haire has constantly used the SBDC and its resources at Murray State University for planning, financial projections and mediation services.

Currently, Haire is in the process of launching a new product. Through the SBDC, Haire has been connected to various individuals, including faculty members at Murray State, who have walked him through the process and worked with Haire to mediate an agreement with his partners. He estimates this assistance saved him “at least a year and a half of work.”  Haire expects his new product will be distributed by one of the nation’s largest suppliers in 2008.
